Industrial Designer for Internet-Connected Thermostat

Job ID: 38428970

Budget: $50 USD

We're a team of skilled engineers working on an innovative internet-connected thermostat (size = 90mm x 90 x 35) with remote occupancy sensors (diameter = 35mm, length = 38mm) for the US residential market. We're in need of an industrial designer with deep knowledge of US residential aesthetic to help us with critical design aspects.

Key Tasks:
- Provide comments on existing industrial design and give ideas for corner radius, material finishes, design highlights (both thermostat and remote sensor)
- Prepare photo renderings of the chosen design (both thermostat and remote sensor)
- Prepare an overall design style of the UX (Home screen, menu screen, scheduling screen). We don't need a detailed wiring diagram but we do need a style guideline we can follow
-Provide on-going design work for detailed UX (iconography and some complicated page layouts)

Skills & Experience Required:
- Prior experience in designing consumer electronics, especially in the realm of smart home devices, would be ideal.
- Proficiency in CAD and photo rendering tools.
- An understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to balance aesthetics with functionality.
- Strong communication skills to work closely with our engineering team and to understand and incorporate their technical requirements into the design.
- A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create sleek, modern, and user-friendly designs.

If you're an innovative industrial designer who lives in the USA or Canada and with a passion for smart technology and a keen eye for aesthetics, we'd love to have you on board to help us bring this cutting-edge product to life.

Please kindly note that if you are not familiar with the environment inside a US home and how people use a thermostat in the USA, then this project is not suitable for you.
