Immersive Modern Town Map
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m building an open-world game, and I need a fully explorable modern town map that feels believable from the first street corner to the last stretch of sand. The core brief is to create one continuous environment that seamlessly blends three zones:
• a realistic downtown with modern architecture
• a suburban area that evokes everyday American towns
• a lively beach front with natural transitions to both city and suburb
Style & look
I am aiming for a realistic aesthetic—clean lines, current-day materials, and real-world scale. While I considered more futuristic or traditional approaches, realism is what will ground the experience for players and keep the world immersive.
Suburban vibe
Think of those typical U.S. neighborhoods: recognizable grid-like streets, detached houses, some small parks, convenient stores on corners—nothing gated or overly stylized, just familiar, lived-in spaces that contrast the denser downtown.
Gameplay fit
The map must support open-world traversal (on foot and by vehicle) and allow for interior access in key buildings. Terrain, collision, and occlusion should be tuned for performance in a modern engine this should be done in Unity, and you can use Assets from asset store or fab but realistic
Deliverables
• Complete 3D map file ready to import
• Layered project source so I can tweak assets later
• Basic lighting pass and day/night cycle setup
• Documentation noting key landmarks, scale, and any third-party assets used
Timeline
I need the first playable build within a month, with one interim checkpoint halfway so we can make course corrections early.
If you have examples of similar town or coastal environments you’ve built, please share them when you respond.
