We are looking for an experienced freelance mechanical design engineer based in Bangalore to support the design of a compact, mechanically robust product that integrates electronic components. The electronics design is already completed; your responsibility will be to develop the mechanical structure and enclosure around it.

This project also includes the mechanical design of an adjustable dumbbell, with strong emphasis on strength, safety, ergonomics, and reliable weight adjustment and locking mechanisms.

Project Scope

Design compact and ergonomic mechanical enclosures for electronic components

Develop a durable and user-safe adjustable dumbbell mechanical system

Ensure seamless mechanical–electrical integration (PCB mounting, connectors, antennas, cable routing)

Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and durability

Create 3D CAD models and 2D production-ready drawings

Recommend suitable materials based on mechanical load, wear, and environmental conditions

Support prototyping and design validation

Required Skills & Experience

Strong proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent)

Experience designing consumer products or load-bearing mechanical systems

Solid understanding of tolerances, fits, and DFM/DFA

Experience integrating electronics into mechanical designs

Knowledge of plastic and metal part design

Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with fitness equipment or adjustable dumbbell designs

Experience with compact or handheld products

Background in mechanical engineering or product design

Basic understanding of thermal management or EMI considerations

Location Requirement

Candidate must be based in Bangalore, India

Occasional in-person collaboration or prototype reviews may be required
