6m Fixed-Wing Surveillance UAV Build
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
I need a complete fabrication service for a fixed-wing UAV with a 6-metre wingspan that will fly long endurance missions over forested areas for environmental monitoring. The airframe must be robust yet lightweight, capable of carrying the typical day-light and multispectral cameras used in forestry surveillance, and provide easy access for future sensor swaps.
Scope of work
You will fabricate the full airframe—wing, fuselage, empennage, control surfaces—and deliver a flight-ready platform fitted with servos, motor mount, and wiring harnesses. Materials and construction techniques should prioritise strength-to-weight and field-repairability; composite skins over a carbon or glass spar arrangement are preferred, though I’m open to proven alternative methods if they keep weight low and durability high.
Deliverables
• Finished 6 m wingspan UAV airframe, assembled and balanced
• Payload bay sized for gimbal-mounted cameras (at least 2 kg capacity)
• Integrated power distribution and control wiring, ready to accept Pixhawk-class autopilot and standard forestry sensors
• Assembly drawings, BOM, and maintenance guidelines
• Short ground-run and maiden-flight video demonstrating stable control and launch/landing procedure
Acceptance criteria
– Total take-off weight under 25 kg while meeting the 2 kg payload target
– Minimum 90-minute endurance on a representative test flight
– Stable cruise at 22–25 m/s with hands-off wings-level performance
If you already have a proven 6 m platform that can be customised for this role, let me know; otherwise, your bid should cover fabrication from supplied plans or an in-house design that meets the above specs. I’m ready to proceed as soon as we finalise the airframe approach and timeline.
