On-Demand Mechanical Prototype Design
Budget: $15 – $25 AUD
I regularly handle short-run product ideas that call for quick, reliable mechanical engineering support. Whenever a new concept lands on my desk I need someone who can jump in, translate rough sketches into clean CAD, and prepare both sheet-metal and 3D-printed prototype files—then step back until the next request comes through.
The work is straightforward but detail-critical. Most jobs centre on mild-steel parts that will be cut and bent only; occasional welding or finishing details are required from your side.
Here’s what I will ask for on each task:
• Fully parametric CAD models created in SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or Inventor
• Flat-pattern drawings/DXFs with bend lines, angles, radii and K-factor notes ready for laser or water-jet shops
• Print-ready STLs plus a short set-up brief (layer height, infill, supports) for my in-house printers
• PDF of flat and expanded views
Turnaround is usually 48–72 hours. Clear, timely communication during Australian business hours is appreciated.
Acceptance criteria
– All bends called out accurately and unfold correctly in the native CAD file
– STL files pass mesh integrity checks (no non-manifold edges)
– Native files remain fully editable for future revisions
