Defender Dashboard CAD Redesign
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I already hold high-resolution LiDAR scans of both the Land Rover Defender TDCi dashboard and the 10.1-inch display that must be integrated. Using these point clouds as the foundation, the assignment is to create a fully parametric, production-ready CAD model that:
• Seats the 10.1-inch screen perfectly, sitting flush with the dash surface (no proud edges).
• Incorporates robust mechanical retention and mounting mechanisms for the screen (e.g. DIN-style cage, rear retention brackets, or equivalent engineered fixing solution). Adhesive-only mounting is not acceptable.
• Includes solid, well-designed mounting bosses integrated into the dash structure.
• Retains every OEM switch, vent, and indicator light, but reorganises their positions to improve ergonomics while remaining Defender-authentic.
• Relocates and re-packages the air-conditioning button cluster, ensuring proper clearances, usability, and service access.
The design must consider real-world installation, vibration, thermal movement, and long-term durability, not just visual fitment.

Deliverables
1. Native CAD files (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or comparable) with a clean, logical feature tree and fully parametric construction.
2. Screen mounting solution fully modelled (retention system, brackets, bosses, fasteners where applicable).
3. Basic FEA and/or wall-thickness study demonstrating manufacturability and suitability for injection-moulded or composite plastic shells.

Acceptance Criteria
• All mounting points, surfaces, and interfaces align precisely with the supplied LiDAR meshes when overlaid.
• Screen sits perfectly flush in the final dash design with a secure mechanical fixing method.
• Visual sign-off on a modern, clean design that still feels authentic to the Defender interior rather than aftermarket or generic.
• Model is ready for toolmaker hand-off without further redesign.
it is important the the deadlines are met for this project and designs are submitted taking in account for revisions. i have uploaded a photo of the standard dash which is the brown object in the image the dash also includes the 2 air vents and clock.
