Commercial Vehicle Body Design

Job ID: 40392969

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

I need a designer who can take a bare rolling chassis and turn it into a fully-engineered commercial body—primarily box vans, curtainsiders, drawbars, de-mounts and dropsides. Each concept must bolt straight onto the chassis rails without re-drilling, meet local regulations and, above all, be robust and easy to assemble on the production line.

Key design targets
• Reinforced structures for daily fleet abuse and high load cycles
• Modular interfaces so the same core panels and sub-frames can be reused across several body styles

The workflow I have in mind begins with 3-D layouts (SolidWorks, Inventor or CATIA are fine), followed by strength calculations, basic CFD checks for frontal fairings when useful, and finally manufacturing drawings and BOMs. If you prefer another mainstream CAD platform, let me know; STEP exchange is acceptable for sign-offs.

Deliverables I expect
– Parametric 3-D models of each body variant matched to the OEM chassis CAD I will supply
– Assembly drawings with weld symbols and fastener specs
– DXF/laser files for sheet-metal, folded sections and extrusions
– A short structural report confirming reinforcement assumptions and safety factors

Acceptance will be based on clean fit-up to the chassis model, pass-through of existing wiring/air lines without clashes, and parts lists that my procurement team can send directly to suppliers.

If this is the kind of practical, production-ready body design you enjoy, I’m ready to share the chassis files and kick the project off right away.
