Coastal Defense Warship Concept Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a complete concept design for a fast, compact coastal-defence warship. The key driver is speed and manoeuvrability, so please centre the layout, weight distribution and propulsion package around that goal. I am leaning toward a steel planing hull, but if you can justify refinements or hybrid solutions I am open to hear them.
Core parameters you must hit
• Weapon fit: at least four systems—short-range sea-to-air missiles, a 76 mm automatic cannon, 12.7 mm machine guns and an anti-submarine option such as lightweight torpedoes or depth charges.
• Crew: no more than 50. Show how automation or integrated systems make this realistic.
• Endurance: 800 km cruising range.
• Speed: minimum 40 knots.
• Displacement: not more than 7 000 t.
The scope stops at the concept level; I do not need detailed electrical, piping or combat-system schematics. What I do need is a design that hangs together technically, with concise notes explaining why the arrangement, hull form and weight estimates make sense and how the numbers are achieved.
Deliverables
1. General arrangement drawing(s) in PDF or CAD.
2. Basic 3D model or rendered visuals to illustrate form and superstructure.
3. Hydrostatic and powering estimates showing that 40 knots is attainable within the displacement limit.
4. A short design brief (≈5 pages) covering hull structure, stability margins, propulsion choice, crew workflow and weapon placement rationale.
Feel free to work in Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Maxsurf, Orca3D or any comparable naval-architecture package—just provide files I can open or view easily. I will review every submission for clarity of thought, technical coherence and how well it meets the coastal-defence mission profile.
