CAD Designer Needed for Modular Fiberglass Parts – Wind Deflectors, Side Spoilers & Sleeping Cabins
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
Project Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled CAD designer to create 2D, 3D designs, technical drawings, and production-ready CAD files for four categories of fiberglass products:
1. Modular Wind Deflectors
2. Aerodynamic Side Spoilers
3. Upper Sleeping Cabins
4. Rear Sleeping Cabins
The freelancer must have 3D drawings of the cabin roofs for all the manufacturers listed below, for which these fiberglass parts are to be designed. Without the 3D drawings of these cabin roofs, the parts cannot be designed, as the base shape of these products must follow the exact form of the cabin roofs.
These components are intended for 3.5-ton commercial vehicles (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Iveco Daily, VW Crafter, Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, Renault Master, etc.) and must meet strict aerodynamic, modular, and transport efficiency requirements.
The side spoilers must integrate seamlessly with both the wind deflectors and sleeping cabins to ensure compatibility across all designs.
Key Requirements:
1. Modular Design for Transport Efficiency:
- Parts must nest within each other (stackable) to minimize transport volume.
- Lower sections will be customized for different vehicle manufacturers but stackable, even if imperfectly aligned.
- Upper sections will be universal across manufacturers for efficiency.
2. Precise Fit for Commercial Vehicles:
- Use 3D cabin roof drawings for vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Iveco, VW, Fiat, and others.
- If you don’t have access to these, you will need to procure them independently online.
- I will provide the Ford Transit 3D model as a reference.
Design Specifications:
- Wind Deflectors: Two-part modular system, adjustable height (400mm to 1000mm+).
- Side Spoilers: Designed for body widths of 2200mm, 2350mm, 2550mm, integrating perfectly with the deflectors.
- Upper Sleeping Cabins: Lightweight, aerodynamic design with windows, thermal insulation, and comfort features.
- Rear Sleeping Cabins: Modular structure for one or two drivers, ergonomic, with storage space and foldable sleeping platforms.
Material & Manufacturing:
- Fiberglass or ABS plastic, optimized for vacuum molding to ensure lightweight, durable parts.
- Wall thickness: 3-5mm based on structural requirements.
Deliverables:
- Detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for all components.
- Production-ready CAD files.
- Full compatibility between wind deflectors, side spoilers, and sleeping cabins.
- Design improvements for aerodynamics, transport efficiency, and assembly solutions.
Skills Required:
- CAD/CAM design
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software
- Expertise in mechanical and product design
- Experience with fiberglass manufacturing processes (vacuum molding preferred)
- Knowledge of vehicle design and aerodynamics
Project Structure:
This project will be divided into 4 milestones:
- Modular Wind Deflectors + Side Spoilers
- Upper Sleeping Cabins + Side Spoilers from above
- Rear Sleeping Cabins for 1 or 2 drivers + Side Spoilers from above
- Rear Sleeping Cabins for 1 driver for rescue vehicle platform + Side Spoilers from above
Final payment will only be released after successful completion of all four categories.
Budget:
Provide an indicative range, if desired, for an initial estimate, for each of these 4 categories of products.
Application Requirements:
- Portfolio showcasing similar product designs (preferably automotive components).
- Experience with modular and aerodynamic designs.
- Confirmation of access to required 3D cabin roof models or ability to procure them.
Attached Files:

If you’re confident in your ability to deliver high-quality designs that meet the outlined requirements, apply now. We look forward to collaborating with you!
