CAD Designer Needed for Ergonomic Metal Spray Tool (Mechanical Design/ Cad Design)

Job ID: 40383779

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

I have developed the functional concept for a professional-grade handheld spray tool that will be used every day in demanding field conditions. The form factor and ergonomics are largely defined; what I now need is a SolidWorks specialist who can translate my sketches and specifications into a fully detailed 3D model ready for prototyping.

The core of the job is mechanical: an assembly of metal parts—primarily aluminium and steel—with a robust threaded connection system that can be produced on standard CNC and turning equipment. I will provide a comprehensive brief covering dimensions, performance targets, and load cases as soon as we have an NDA in place. You will retain the flexibility to optimise wall thicknesses, tolerances and fastening choices, and I am open to your recommendations on suitable machine shops or material suppliers once the design is frozen.

Deliverables that will mark the project as complete:
• Parametric SolidWorks assembly with all sub-components
• Manufacturing-ready STEP and STL files for each part
• 2D drawings with critical dimensions and thread call-outs
• A brief design-for-manufacture summary highlighting any risk areas

All intellectual property created during this engagement will transfer to me upon final payment.

When you reply, please include links or images of comparable mechanical products you have designed, confirm that you are working in SolidWorks, and give me a realistic timeline to first prototype files. If you can bring your own network of metal fabricators to the table, let me know—that added value will be appreciated.
