Design of a geothermal doublet in a deep sandstone formation
Tasks: The main objective is to design 4 different geothermal doublet scenarios fulfilling the system requirements.
To do this you need to:
• Design and explain different possible scenarios from which a suitable scenario can be chosen.
• Calculate the minimal production rate needed for this project for each scenario.
• For the defined scenarios, assess the impact of thermal breakthrough and related temperature decline on the lifetime of a doublet. It is assumed that a minimum temperature difference of 30o C is needed to run the project.
• Find a suitable scenario by minimizing the cost of pumping and drilling while fulfilling the production constraints and required project lifetime.
