Project Overview

We are developing visuals for a product concept called AquaSkin, a self-sealing pipe wrap that automatically seals small leaks using hydrogel / superabsorbent beads. The mechanism is purely material-driven (no electricity or electronics).

We need a freelancer to create physically believable 3D models, animations, and explanatory visuals that clearly communicate how the system works at both:

• Macro scale (wrap applied to leaking pipe)
• Micro scale (single bead interacting with water)

This is not a cinematic animation project — technical realism and simulation credibility are critical.

Core Concept (Technical Summary)

AquaSkin is a three-layer composite wrap applied around a leaking pipe.

Layer Structure:

Outer Layer (Structural Containment)
High-tensile, non-permeable layer that contains expansion forces.

Middle Layer (Active Sealing Layer)
Porous matrix containing hydrogel / SAP beads (microspheres) that swell when exposed to water.

Inner Layer (Water-Access Membrane)
Semi-permeable membrane allowing water to reach beads while retaining beads pre-activation.

Mechanism:

When water escapes from a pipe crack:

• Water contacts beads via inner membrane
• Beads hydrate and swell (large volumetric expansion)
• Expansion is constrained by outer layer
• Swelling generates inward pressure
• Beads deform / jam into leak path
• Crack becomes filled by dense gel mass

(Exact molecular accuracy is NOT required, but physics must look plausible.)

Required Deliverables
Primary Animation – Wrap on Pipe (Most Important)

Create a 3D animation showing:

• Pipe segment with visible leak/crack
• AquaSkin wrap installed around pipe
• Water escaping from crack
• Water reaching beads
• Beads swelling inside middle layer
• Containment by outer layer
• Pressure directed inward
• Leak being sealed / reduced

Camera flow preferred:

External view → Cross-sectional cutaway → Sealing sequence

Length Target: ~20–35 seconds (flexible)

Structural Visualization – 3-Layer Cross Section

Clean technical render or short animation showing:

• All three layers clearly visible
• Dry vs Activated state (side-by-side preferred)
• Beads expanded in activated state
• Leak path arrows / pressure logic visually clear

This should resemble a technical explainer graphic, not marketing art.

Micro-Scale Animation – Single Bead Behavior

Zoomed-in visualization showing:

• Dry bead
• Water contact / absorption
• Swelling / gel-like expansion
• Optional: multiple beads swelling & crowding

Focus on believable soft-material behavior.

Length Target: ~8–15 seconds (loopable)

Optional Still Renders (If feasible)

• Wrap applied to pipe (clean product shot)
• Labeled layer cross-section
• Bead dry vs swollen

Software / Simulation Requirement (Critical)

We strongly prefer work done in engineering or simulation-capable software, such as:

Highly Preferred:
• SolidWorks (ideal)
• Fusion 360
• COMSOL Multiphysics

Other tools acceptable ONLY if physics are simulated realistically:
• Blender / Maya with proper deformation simulation

Important:
Do NOT manually scale objects to fake swelling. Expansion & deformation should appear simulation-driven or physics-consistent.

We are prioritizing physically credible motion, not artistic effects.

Visual Style Guidelines

• Clean, modern, technical aesthetic
• Not cartoonish
• Simple backgrounds (white/neutral)
• Realistic materials where applicable
• Smooth professional animation

Suggested (not mandatory):

• Outer layer – dark/neutral
• Inner layer – light/translucent
• Beads – subtle color, gel-like when swollen

Accuracy Expectations

The animation must clearly show:

Swelling triggered by water exposure
Outer layer containing expansion
Pressure directed toward leak
Soft / gel-like material behavior

Avoid unrealistic effects like melting, welding, or rigid sphere scaling.

File Outputs Required
