I’m commissioning a short narrative (roughly 1,500–2,000 words) told entirely from the point of view of a fishing lure. The voice should feel reflective and a little world-weary, as the lure tries to make sense of its brief, perilous journey and draw life lessons from every cast, splash, snag and near-miss. Scope of the journey
• We begin on the rod of a fishing boat, feel the whoosh of open air, then plunge beneath the surface.
• The lure drifts past weeds, scrapes rocks, and drags along a muddy bottom.
• A curious fish glides close, then darts away, leaving the lure yanked skyward, skipped across the surface, and finally reeled back to the rod for another round.
Throughout these moments I want layered metaphors about risk, resilience, false starts, and second chances—accessible to readers 13 + but unafraid of mature themes or the occasional wink of cartoon-style irreverence.
Tone & style
Reflective rather than slapstick. Think of a seasoned narrator who sees every tug on the line as a commentary on fate, agency, and growing up. Vivid sensory detail (splash, pressure, muffled creek-bed silence) should pull readers in, yet the language must stay clear and direct—no flowery padding.
