Traditional Bedroom Extension Drafting
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
My city’s planning department has asked me for a formal set of architectural drawings before it will approve a modest bedroom expansion. I already know the look and feel I want: the addition must read as a seamless continuation of the home’s traditional character, with wood featured prominently in both structure and finish.
Here’s the scope:
• Translate my rough sketches and measurements into a scaled floor plan, elevations, and basic structural details for the new bedroom area.
• Reflect a traditional aesthetic in the façade, roofline, trim, and window proportions.
• Specify wood as the primary visible material while remaining compliant with local code for framing, insulation, and energy requirements.
• Provide a PDF plan set suitable for permitting plus editable CAD/Revit files so my general contractor can coordinate trades.
• One round of revisions after the city’s initial plan check comments.
I will supply the existing floor plan in PDF and photos of the current exterior. Please make sure your deliverables align with the latest International Residential Code and any local amendments; a simple code checklist on the drawings will be appreciated.
If you’ve prepared permit drawings for single-family additions before and can turn this around quickly, let’s get started.
