Tractor-Mount Onion Transplanter Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m commissioning the design of a tractor-mounted transplanter dedicated to onion seedlings. The unit must perform reliably across mixed terrain—flat stretches, gentle hills, and any transitions between them—without sacrificing planting precision.
Key functional requirements
• Simultaneous planting of multiple rows to maximise field efficiency on commercial plots.
• Adjustable in-row spacing so I can switch quickly between different bulb sizes and agronomic recommendations.
• Stable operation behind standard mid-horsepower tractors; three-point hitch Category II preferred.
• Smooth seedling handling to minimise root damage and uphold transplant uniformity.
Deliverables
1. Detailed engineering drawings (2D + 3D) of the complete assembly and critical sub-systems.
2. Bill of materials with off-the-shelf parts clearly flagged.
3. Brief operating and maintenance guide.
For CAD I’m comfortable with SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor files, but STEP/IGES exports are acceptable if you use another platform.
I will review based on draft models showing row mechanisms, spacing adjustment system, and ground-following setup. Final payment on receipt of production-ready files that satisfy the points above and pass a quick DFM check with my fabricator.
