3D Scene Creation and Visualization

Assignment task to be done
Goal: gain skills in 3D scene creation, positioning of scene elements and changing their properties.

Task: create an original visualization of a specific object or idea from 3D figures.
Submission and defense requirements: compress your project (whole catalog) in a zip file and upload as a single file using the provided upload link before the defense. Uploaded zip file must contain all and only necessary files to run the demonstration. Connect to VDU email system before the upload or specify your real name and surname in the upload form. Present your homework during the defense session.

Requirements and evaluation criteria:

(minimal requirements for technical skills - 5 points)

Scene must be constructed from 10 or more 3D figures.
Scene elements and their parts must respond to lighting and be correctly illuminated.
The material properties of scene elements must be chosen logically.
Scene elements and their parts must have correct shadows.
The initial camera position must be selected appropriately so that the image covers the entire scene at the correct angle.

The object or idea must be specific and original. A set of logically unrelated figures, abstractions, planets, or planetary systems will not be counted.
The scene must be completed - full of objects (10 or more figures) and visually appealing.
It must be possible to name and recognize the object or idea and other scene elements without explanation.
All elements must be arranged and visualized logically:
-- It must be possible to view the object from all sides using the mouse and keyboard.
-- The initial camera position must be selected so that it covers the entire object being displayed.
-- There should be no auxiliary scene elements (helping axes or other lines) on the scene.
-- Mistakes: only some elements have shadows, object parts are connected incorrectly or illogically, etc.

You must be able to correctly answer the teacher's questions and make the requested changes. If non-compliance with requirements are found, you will be asked to correct the homework at the time of defense session, or the grade will be lower accordingly.
Before defense, check if you know how to:

change the color of the scene background and objects;
change the surface to matte or glossy;
change the surface to angular or smooth;
make a surface transparent;
change the initial camera position;
change the lighting direction and parameters;
lighten or darken shadows;
check the code for inaccuracies and find errors using a browser.
