Product Design: Compact Optical Probe
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I need a full 3-D model for a handheld, tube-like optical probe that measures surface colour by reflectance. The device places a white LED at roughly 45 ° to a 1 × 1.5 cm test area, keeps a camera looking straight on from the centre line, and adds a colour sensor just 10–15 ° off-axis, all inside a housing that sits about 2 cm from the sample.
The job calls for a detailed design that shows every board, screw and aperture rather than a simple shell, and the files must open natively in blender or any STL format. I will provide exact board dimensions for the camera and sensor after we start; please build around those footprints, allow space for wiring to exit through the rear, and include simple holders for polariser or diffuser films over the three optical openings. The shell itself can be any mouldable plastic, so feel free to choose a grade that balances strength and printability in your proposal.
Deliverables I expect:
• Native 3D model of the complete assembly
• Individual part files suitable for injection-moulding or high-resolution printing
• Exploded and section views showing component placement and screw locations
• A short PDF summarising material call-outs, critical tolerances and overall dimensions
If you are comfortable producing production-ready CAD for compact opto-mechanical devices, let’s get started.
