Mesh-to-Rhino SubD Conversion
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
I have high-resolution mesh scans of several pieces of tableware—plate, cup, saucer, teapot and similar items—that need to be turned into clean, editable geometry inside Rhino.
Number of pieces: 6.
What I need you to do
• Rebuild each scan as accurate NURBS or, preferably, SubD surfaces, staying faithful to the original form.
• Hollow out the currently solid meshes so wall thickness is consistent and realistic for production.
• Keep every functional element—especially the handles—exactly where they are and shaped as scanned.
• Organise the final Rhino file for moderate future tweaks: clear layers, named surface/sub-objects, and tidy topology that will withstand occasional edits without collapsing.
I will supply:
• Watertight OBJ or STL meshes for each piece
• Reference photos for proportion checks
• Desired wall-thickness values
You will deliver:
1. One Rhino .3dm per object containing the SubD (or rebuilt NURBS) ready for downstream rendering/CAM.
2. A brief note on any small deviations required for a clean conversion and the wall-thickness you applied.
Tools: Rhino 7 or later with its SubD tools is ideal; if you prefer external retopo solutions before importing back to Rhino, that’s fine as long as the end result opens natively in Rhino.
