Light A State
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
The goal is to create a sleek, modern table lamp built from acrylic mirrored gold plexiglass that will stand out both as a decorative piece and as a practical bedside or desktop companion. I already have the core requirements defined and now need the full product design package so the lamp can move straight into prototyping and, ultimately, production.
Aesthetics & Materials
• Overall look: clean lines with a contemporary feel that lets the mirrored gold surface catch and reflect ambient light.
• Primary material: 3 mm (or your recommended thickness) acrylic mirrored gold plexiglass for the body and shade; internal light-diffusing panel or tube can be clear or frosted. I’m open to your advice on reinforcing inserts or a contrasting base if it improves stability without diluting the all-plexiglass appearance.
Functional Features
• Dimmable LED lighting with smooth adjustable brightness.
• An integrated USB charging port discreetly positioned on the base, capable of at least 2 A output.
• Built-in digital clock display that remains readable yet subtle when the lamp is off.
• LED modules should be energy-efficient, low-heat, and replaceable if possible.
(Touch controls could be interesting if they do not complicate the design—feel free to propose.)
Deliverables
1. Concept sketches that explore shape, proportions, and component placement.
2. High-quality 3D renders (KeyShot, Blender, or similar) showing the lamp lit and unlit in a neutral setting.
3. Production-ready CAD files (STEP or IGES) with exploded views and clear notation of all electronic and mechanical parts.
4. Basic BOM listing LEDs, clock module, USB circuitry, recommended drivers/dimmers, and any fasteners or adhesives.
5. Assembly guide or exploded animation so a manufacturer can quote and build a prototype without further clarification.
Acceptance criteria: visuals match the mirrored gold aesthetic, all listed functions operate without visible cabling clutter, and files are detailed enough for a plastics fabricator and an electronics assembler to cost out tooling and assembly.
Please factor in typical plexiglass bending limits and heat management for the LEDs. Once the complete design package passes a quick feasibility check, I plan to commission a prototype immediately, so accuracy and manufacturability are critical at this stage.
