Hoberman Iris Dome Script

Job ID: 40036052

Budget: €8 – €30 EUR

I need a clean, well-commented Grasshopper (for rhino 8) definition that recreates Chuck Hoberman’s iris-dome concept so I can drive the complete opening and closing sequence directly inside Rhino. The script’s main purpose is hands-on 3D modelling and parametric control rather than animation only, but it must still move smoothly when I slide a single numeric input from fully closed to fully open.

Core scope
• Mechanisms – the radial linkages have to resolve without clashes, maintain equal panel spacing, and respect realistic hinge pivots.
• Surfaces – each panel should update its geometry live from the mechanism, keeping thickness and edge offsets editable.
• Connections – please generate the hinge or pin locations with coordinates that can be exported for fabrication.

To be accepted, the definition must:
1. Run on the current Rhino/Grasshopper release without external plug-ins.
2. Expose clear parameters for dome diameter, panel count, panel thickness, and travel angle.
3. Include concise on-canvas notes so another designer can understand the logic at a glance.

Send a short message highlighting your experience with similar deployable structures or advanced Grasshopper scripting; no lengthy proposals are required at this stage.
