Experienced Technical Artist for Robotics Simulation
Budget: ₹37,500 – ₹75,000 INR
About Tonks AI
Tonks AI accelerates simulation-to-real robotics by automating high-quality, physics-ready environment creation. Our platform empowers robotics teams to:
Rapidly produce diverse, tailored scenarios and environments for training and testing robots
We're solving critical friction points in creating simulation-ready environments by providing instant, physics-ready assets and automated scenario generation that traditionally takes weeks to develop manually.
Role Overview
We seek a skilled Technical Artist experienced in Isaac Sim (or similar robotics simulation platforms) to bridge the gap between artistic vision and technical implementation. You'll be responsible for creating high-fidelity, optimized 3D assets and environments that meet both visual and performance standards for next-generation autonomous robotics simulations.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Creation & Optimization
Create high-quality, physics-ready 3D assets for robotics simulation environments including robots, industrial equipment, warehouse components, and environmental objects
Optimize 3D models for performance in Isaac Sim, managing polygon counts, texture resolutions, and Level-of-Detail (LOD) systems to maintain real-time simulation speeds
Develop and maintain PBR (Physically Based Rendering) pipelines for realistic material authoring and texturing workflows
Convert CAD models and real-world references into SimReady assets with proper physics properties and collision meshes
Technical Integration
Work closely with simulation engineers to ensure seamless asset integration into Isaac Sim environments with proper physics properties, collision detection, and interaction behaviors
Support real-world to simulation asset conversion using photogrammetry, 3D scanning data, and reference imagery
Collaborate on performance optimization for complex scenes, maintaining target frame rates while preserving visual fidelity
Provide technical guidance on asset preparation, optimization strategies, and best practices for Isaac Sim workflows
Create documentation and tutorials for asset creation workflows and tool usage
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Digital Art, Game Development, or related technical/artistic discipline
1+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in game development, simulation, VFX, or real-time 3D applications
Proficiency in 3D modeling software: Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max with strong skills in modeling, UV unwrapping, and texturing
Isaac Sim experience or equivalent robotics simulation platforms (Gazebo, MuJoCo, Unity, Unreal Engine)
Python scripting proficiency for tool development, automation, and pipeline creation
What We Offer
Direct impact on the future of robotics simulation, working with cutting-edge AI-driven scenario generation technology
Technical ownership and rapid growth opportunities within a venture-backed startup founded by proven IIT Bombay and Microsoft Research alumni
Collaborative environment working closely with simulation engineers, robotics experts, and external customers
Competitive compensation and equity participation in a high-growth robotics AI company
Flexible work arrangements with opportunities for remote collaboration
We're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of art and technology, bringing both creative vision and technical precision to solve complex challenges in robotics simulation. Join us in building the next generation of AI-driven simulation tools that will transform how autonomous robots are trained and deployed.
