Ergonomic Zero-Drop Safety Boot Design

Job ID: 40231192

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I am bringing a new slip-on work boot to market and need a product designer who can translate my concept into a manufacturing-ready package. The boot must combine a true zero-drop platform, a generous anatomical toe box, and a lightweight composite safety toe while remaining rugged enough for daily wear in a fire station. All core qualities—durability, comfort, and full ASTM F2413 compliance—are equally important, none can be sacrificed for another.

Key performance requirements
• Slip-on construction that stays secure during fast response times
• Wide toe box with composite cap that meets impact/compression limits yet keeps weight down
• Non-slip, oil- and chemical-resistant outsole built for polished concrete and wet bay floors
• Water resistance and puncture resistance are mandatory features; heat resistance is a bonus if it can be achieved without adding bulk
• Zero heel-to-toe drop for natural posture and gait
• Materials and patterning must collectively pass ASTM testing for protective footwear

Primary use case
Firefighting station duties guide the specification, but I also intend the design to cross over into warehouse work and delivery routes, so day-long comfort and quick on/off are essential.

Deliverables
1. 3D footwear CAD files (SolidWorks, Rhino, or comparable) showing upper, midsole, and outsole assemblies
2. Detailed tech pack: material specs, component call-outs, last dimensions, stitch counts, suggested suppliers
3. Compliance matrix mapping each feature to relevant ASTM clauses
4. Colour renderings and an exploded view suitable for investor presentations

Acceptance criteria
• All dimensions fit within standard ASTM testing tolerances
• Outsole slip test ≥ 0.60 COF on dry & wet ceramic tile
• Water-resistance test: no leak after 100 flex cycles
• Puncture plate withstands ≥ 270 lbs force without penetration

Include any prior examples of composite-toe or zero-drop footwear you have brought to production. If you can advise on rapid prototyping or short-run manufacturing, let me know; I may retain you for sample oversight once the design is locked.
