3D Engineered Solar Carport Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m ready to move forward with a custom-engineered carport that can host a 500 kW solar array. I will supply the exact PV module, the grade of structural steel, and the racking or tracking technology we are using; what I need from you is a complete 3D representation of the structure along with the key engineering details.
The model must sit on a level asphalt driveway and clearly integrate three functional features: a rainwater-handling system, clean cable management, and provisions for high wind resistance. Beyond those essentials, you are free to work in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or any other professional package you prefer—as long as the native file and an exported IFC/STEP version are included.
Once we start, I’ll share photographs and sketches that capture the visual concept plus the specification sheets for modules and materials. The final hand-off should include:
• A fully detailed 3D model with all structural members, fasteners, and PV modules placed
• Annotated views or sheets that highlight drainage, wiring runs, and wind-load reinforcements
• Rendered images from multiple angles for stakeholder review
• A brief calculation summary (or FEA screenshots if you already perform them) confirming member sizes against wind and snow loads
If anything in the scope needs clarification, let me know early so we can keep the design cycle efficient. I’m looking forward to seeing your engineering approach to this solar carport.
