Electric Scooter Prototype Structural Design

Job ID: 40248882

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Our electric two-wheeler is entering its final-prototype phase and I need a sharp industrial designer who can take the structural side from zero to a build-ready package. There are no legacy CAD files or sketches to inherit, so you will be creating the entire frame architecture and all battery / electronics mounting solutions from scratch. I will provide detailed description and reference images

The job centres on:
• Designing a robust, lightweight main frame, sub-frames and all critical attachment points.
• Packaging the battery pack, BMS, controller and wiring runs cleanly inside that structure without compromising serviceability or cooling.
• Ensuring everything meets typical motorcycle load cases and manufacturing constraints for welded steel or aluminium tubing (open to material advice).

I prefer to review work in SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or comparable parametric CAD, with clear 2D drawings and STEP exports for fabrication. A brief FEA sanity check on torsional stiffness and drop-test scenarios will be part of the acceptance.

If you’ve previously engineered e-bikes, scooters or small motorcycles and can move fast through iterative virtual reviews, let’s talk milestones and get this prototype rolling.

Deliverables:

Complete 3D assembly model and fully dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings (SolidWorks/Fusion 360 preferred).
Reinforced mild steel step-through frame design with internal wiring channels, powder-coated finish, reinforced for 200-250kg total payload, low stand-over height.
Geometry optimization for uniform 17" x 4" fat tyre wheels, full coil suspension (front 100-135mm, rear 165-190mm), quick-release modular rear seat/cargo rack.
Mounts and integration for: 1000W IP67-rated rear hub motor (with heatsink cooling), 48V sodium-ion battery pack(s), IP67-rated controller, 5" LCD touchscreen, ESP32 IoT module (GPS/tracking/geofencing), upgraded LED lights, horn, mudguards, mirrors, charging port, CBS linked braking, AVAS speaker.
Basic FEA report (static 250kg load, vibration, key stress points).
STEP/IGES export files, exploded views, assembly sequence instructions.

Required Experience:

Portfolio demonstrating electric bike/scooter/motorcycle design or similar lightweight vehicles.
Strong understanding of ergonomics (low seat height, upright posture), material selection (mild steel/aluminum), low-cost manufacturing, IP65/67 sealing techniques, and internal cable routing.
Ability to design for local welding/assembly in emerging markets.

Timeline: 4–6 weeks (2–3 weeks core design + 1–2 weeks revisions + FEA)

Application Instructions:
Submit relevant portfolio links (especially e-bike/motorcycle projects), estimated fixed price, and timeline. Shortlisted candidates will receive detailed spec sheet, reference sketches, and NDA for further discussion.
Serious applicants only. Thank you!
