DFM Injection-Molded PP Tote -- 2

Job ID: 39959489

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have an early-stage concept for a polypropylene (PP) storage tote and I need it taken all the way to a manufacturing-ready design. Your main task is to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles for injection molding, paying close attention to:

• Weight capacity – the tote must safely handle the load we specify during the engineering phase.
• Stackability – lid, walls, and feet need to nest securely without creating sink marks or warpage.

Material selection is partly defined (PP), but I’m open to your guidance on grades, fillers, or additives that improve stiffness, impact resistance, and cycle time while keeping the part recyclable.

Scope of work
1. Refine my rough sketches or basic 3D model into a production-ready CAD file (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
2. Add draft angles, radii, rib patterns, and uniform wall thickness suitable for single-cavity or family molds.
3. Specify gate location, runner layout, ejector placement, and core/cavity splits.
4. Provide thickness analysis and Moldflow-style recommendations to minimise shrinkage and warpage.
5. Deliver a concise engineering report summarising choices, tolerance stack-ups, and any trade-offs.

What success looks like
• A complete CAD package (.STEP/.SLDPRT) plus 2D drawings.
• A DFM report I can send directly to a mould maker with minimal follow-up questions.
• All files organised and clearly named.

If you have hands-on experience launching PP parts, especially totes, crates, or bins, let me know. Please share similar projects and describe the software you’ll use.
