Custom Micro Gripper CAD
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I will share the STEP model of a commercial parallel-jaw gripper. Your task is to build on that base in SOLIDWORKS and return a fully‐featured assembly that I can drop straight into my robot cell.
Micro fingers
• Geometry must let the jaws pick up a range of part sizes while remaining gentle enough for fragile components.
• Target material is aluminum; please keep wall thicknesses and radii manufacturable on a small CNC mill or printer with aluminum capability.
• A light elastomer insert or surface texturing for the “soft-touch” requirement is welcome if it can be modeled parametrically.
Mounting bracket adapter
The bracket bolts to the gripper’s vertical arm (exact bolt pattern provided with the STEP file). Stay inside the envelope I will specify so the gripper stroke is unhindered. All mating features—holes, counterbores, clearances—must be fully defined.
Assembly & files
Return one SOLIDWORKS assembly (.sldasm) that shows the commercial base, your bracket, and both finger halves in their home and fully closed positions. Include native part files, any reference sketches, and a generic STEP of your finished design so I can share it with vendors.
Acceptance
• No interferences in SOLIDWORKS Interference Detection
• Fingers close symmetrically and remain flush on the mounting faces
• Fasteners line up with the provided bolt pattern
• All parts rebuild cleanly with no suppressed features
If you usually work in a later SOLIDWORKS version, let me know so we can agree on the save-back format before you begin.
