Custom 6-Bar Hinge Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m building a bespoke desk and now need a precisely tuned six-bar linkage hinge that rotates the desk top 90 degrees without hitting the back wall.
Your task is to translate that concept into a fully engineered, aluminum-ready hinge / link mechanism. That includes adjusting link lengths and pivot points to maintain a true linear path, confirming clearances, and choosing pin sizes and fasteners that suit aluminum fabrication.
Deliverables
• Final 3D model: I can import / export from sketchup
• Motion proof: a short animation or screencast showing the linear travel throughout the full stroke
• Manufacturing pack: dimensioned drawings for every aluminum part and a concise hardware list
Acceptance criteria
– Lateral drift no greater than ±1 mm over the complete range
– All parts remain within the existing desk envelope; nothing protrudes below the base
