Compact Smart Trash Bin Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m bringing a “smart” ashtray-cum-dustbin to crowded markets and need a product designer who can turn the concept into manufacturable reality. The unit will be a compact, plastic body that houses two clearly separated zones: a fire-safe metal insert for cigarette butts and ash, and a small bin for general litter such as wrappers. Because it will sit in busy outdoor corridors, the entire shell must be easy to hose down or wipe clean without trapping residue or odors. Key goals • Detailed 3D design (CAD) that specifies plastic grades, wall thickness, and the removable metal cup/liner. • Mechanisms that make daily emptying fast yet secure—think snap-fit or slide-out inserts—while keeping the exterior sleek for prominent brand graphics or municipal messaging. • Visual mock-ups that show how advertising panels integrate on at least two faces of the bin. • Engineering drawings ready for prototyping or low-volume tooling, plus a simple user manual explaining cleaning and ash-handling procedures. If you have ideas for add-ons such as lockable sections or color-coded waste icons, feel free to propose them, but the core deliverable is the durable, easy-to-clean plastic form factor with a heat-resistant butt chamber. Please include in your bid: 1. Portfolio links to previous street furniture or consumer-grade plastic products. 2. Your preferred software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, etc.) and output formats. 3. Estimated timeline for concept sketches, first CAD pass, and final production files. I’ll review early sketches with local waste-management partners and will green-light the full model once usability and cleaning workflow are nailed down. Excited to see how you’ll help keep our markets cleaner and safer!
