Canoeing Ergometer Design
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I'm seeking a skilled designer to create a specialized paddling ergometer for competitive surf ski training. This ergometer should feature adjustable resistance to mimic real-water conditions and enhance training effectiveness. I am wanting something akin to a pilates reformer machine, were the sled the user is seated on slides forwards and backwards giving resistance on both the eccentric and concentric portion of the rotation applied in the paddling stroke. The seat needs to be designed to be a balance seat, forcing the user to engage their supporting muscles to stay upright through the movement, mimicking real water feel. The sled portion needs to have an adjustable foot plate to accommodate various heights of different users.
Key requirements:
- Adjustable resistance: To simulate various water conditions and intensities.
- Ergonomic design focused on comfort and efficiency during long training sessions.
- Durable materials suitable for rigorous use.
- Compact and portable design for easy storage and transport.
- Balance type seat mimicking real water feel (I have used the concept of a balance board). Also have researched incorporating a swedish posture balance type element. This is a big focal point.
- As this equipment will mostly be used in coastal areas, maintanence and longevity of the various parts is a key concern of mine.
Ideal candidates should have:
- Experience in designing fitness or sports training equipment.
- Strong understanding of biomechanics and ergonomics.
- Background in competitive canoeing/surf ski or related sports is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software and prototyping.
Please include relevant work samples and a brief design concept in your proposal.
