Design a 55″ W × 20″ D × 15″ H aluminum storage cabinet with 3 identical pull-out drawers.
This cabinet will mount under a large BBQ grill on a mobile trailer and must handle heavy loads (coal, wood, tools).
Design Requirements
Frame
- 1″ × 1″ aluminum square tube (6061-T6 or 6063-T52)
- Wall thickness: 0.083″
- Rectangular perimeter frame
- Vertical dividers to create 3 equal bays
Horizontal slide rails for drawers
Skins & Panels
- Material: 5052-H32 aluminum sheet
- Bottom and drawer floors: 0.080″
- Sides, back, dividers: 0.063″
- Flat CNC-cut panels
- Riveted to tube frame (no bent sheet metal drawers)
Corners
- Use aluminum angle trim (1″ × 1″ × 0.063″) for all external edges
Drawers
- 3 identical drawers
- Tube-frame construction (1″ × 1″ aluminum)
- Riveted aluminum skins
- Center cross-brace on each drawer
- Designed to support ≥100 lb per drawer
Hardware Integration
Model space and mounting for:
18″ full-extension locking drawer slides
Flush-mount lockable paddle latches (one per drawer)
