Smart Planter Manufacturability Review
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I have a complete set of 3D STEP files and a bill of materials for a connected indoor-outdoor smart planter. Before I commit to prototype tooling, I need a mechanical/product engineer to audit the design from a manufacturing standpoint.
Your task
• Analyse every part for injection-molding and 3D-printing readiness—checking wall thicknesses, draft angles, undercuts, tolerances, and any features that might complicate tooling or print orientation.
• Verify that the assembly sequence is practical and that fasteners, snaps, seals, and electronics compartments can be put together and serviced without issue.
• Flag cost or quality risks in the current BOM and suggest leaner alternatives where it makes sense. ABS, Polypropylene, Nylon, or any better-suited resin are all on the table; I’m open to your rationale.
• Summarise findings in a concise report with annotated screenshots and a clear go/no-go on each part, plus actionable recommendations to reach a prototype-ready state.
What I will supply after hire:
– STEP files for all components
– Current BOM with supplier notes
– Key functional requirements (watering system, sensor mounting, IP rating targets)
Success means I walk away confident that every piece can be molded or printed, assembled quickly, and withstand both indoor and outdoor environments. If minor tweaks are needed, include revised geometry or marked-up files so my CAD team can implement them immediately.
