Rotomolding Toy Design for Toddlers
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We’re developing a small, design-forward children’s product and are looking for a CAD designer with experience in rotomolding (rotational molding) to help bring it to production.
The product is a toy/recreational item for infants and toddlers, designed for both indoor and outdoor play. It should feel engaging, safe, durable, and thoughtfully designed, with a clean, elevated aesthetic that fits well in modern homes.
We will provide an STL file as a visual reference. The goal is to rebuild and refine the design in parametric CAD (SolidWorks or similar) so it’s ready for manufacturing, not to redesign it from scratch.
The design should be optimized for rotomolding using an aluminum mold, including:
Consistent wall thickness
Proper draft angles
Smooth, rounded transitions (no sharp internal corners)
Thoughtful mold split/parting line placement
Geometry that supports even material distribution and durability
Some light functional refinements may be needed (for example, improving usability or fit), while staying true to the original design intent.
Deliverables:
Production-ready CAD files (STEP + native format)
A model ready for direct handoff to a mold manufacturer
We’re ideally looking for someone who:
Has experience designing for rotomolding or similar hollow plastic processes
Has worked with mold manufacturers or understands real production constraints
Has experience with children’s products or safety considerations
Please share relevant examples of your work, especially anything involving rotomolding or hollow plastic products.
