Retractable Charger 3D Blueprint

Job ID: 39977010

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m building a compact, wall-mounted charger for home use that automatically winds its cable back into a spool when I tap a release button. The core assignment is to turn this concept into a complete 3D blueprint I can hand off for prototyping and, ultimately, small-batch production.

Here’s what I already know: the unit will live in a typical household outlet zone and will be used mainly for smartphones and tablets, so the geometry must house a USB-C (and possibly Lightning) tip, a safe spring-loaded reel, and enough room for a short internal PCB or off-the-shelf charging brick. I want a tactile button that engages the spring to retract the cord smoothly without slapping back. Beyond those basics, I’m open to your mechanical ideas on spool size, cable guide channels, strain relief, and enclosure latching.

What I need from you:
• A parametric 3D CAD model (STEP or SolidWorks preferred, STL for printing)
• Dimensioned drawings with tolerances for CNC or injection-mold tooling
• An exploded view plus simple assembly notes highlighting the spring, release button and cable path
• A lightweight bill of materials listing major components and suggested off-the-shelf parts
• Two or three rendered images so stakeholders can review the look and feel

I’ll provide quick feedback on each milestone and we can iterate until the design is production-ready and can satisfy common household electrical safety guidelines. If you have prior work on retractable mechanisms or consumer electronics enclosures, please include it—seeing proven spring-loaded solutions will speed things up.
