Rack and Pinion CAD & FEA
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
I want a complete, fully-assembled rack-and-pinion steering system built in SolidWorks for a passenger car. Every critical piece—rack, pinion, tie-rods, housings, bushings—must be modeled in steel, built with parametric features, and mated so the mechanism can sweep its travel inside a Motion Study without losing constraints. I will share reference models and layouts; use them to size the parts but keep the level of detail to what is needed for functional motion and load transfer rather than full manufacturing specs.
Once the CAD behaves correctly, bring the assembly into ANSYS Workbench. Set up a dynamic analysis that drives one full steering cycle, applies realistic input torque at the pinion, and reacts road loads back through the tie-rods. The goal is to isolate maximum von Mises stress in the rack teeth, pinion shaft, and tie-rod interfaces, then map safety factors across those zones.
Deliverables
• SolidWorks part and assembly files with editable parametric dimensions and a working Motion Study
• ANSYS Workbench project with boundary conditions, material definitions (steel), and transient solution setup
• Post-processing plots and animations showing stress contours and displacement through the cycle
• A concise report summarizing peak stresses, safety factors, and any critical failure points or recommended design tweaks
I will sign off once the model moves cleanly in SolidWorks, imports to ANSYS without errors, and the stress results align with published passenger-car steering data ranges.
