Product Designer Needed to Create 3D CAD Model for Small Phone Accessory Prototype

Job ID: 40283755

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I am looking for a product designer or mechanical engineer to help create a 3D CAD model for a small hardware accessory that attaches to a smartphone.

The goal is to design a functional prototype that I can first print on my home 3D printer. After testing and refinement, the same design files will later be used for professional manufacturing.

Project scope:
• Create a 3D CAD model based on my concept and sketches
• Design must be optimized for 3D printing for early prototypes
• Design should also be suitable for future manufacturing (injection molding or similar production methods)
• Help refine dimensions, tolerances, and usability

Deliverables:
• Editable CAD file (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar)
• STEP file
• STL file for 3D printing
• Any recommendations for improving manufacturability

Product concept:
The product is a small clamp style attachment that connects to a smartphone and holds a small optical lens in alignment with the phone camera. It must stay compact and low profile so a technician can hold the phone by hand and reach into tight spaces.

I will provide:
• Concept sketches
• Photos of the lens and phone dimensions
• Explanation of how the device will be used
• Examples of similar products if helpful

Ideal experience:
• Mechanical design for small consumer products
• Experience designing parts for both 3D printing and injection molding
• Experience designing phone accessories or mounting mechanisms is a plus

This will start as a prototype design project but may lead to additional work as the product develops.
Please include examples of similar product designs or CAD work.
