Polyethylene Mold Design for Furniture Fittings
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
The goal is to create a production-ready mold that will run Polyethylene (PE) parts on my existing thermoplastic injection machine, turning out furniture fittings consistently at scale. Because these fittings have to move straight from press to packaging without secondary finishing, the cavity layout, cooling network, and ejection system all need to be optimized for cycle-time and dimensional repeatability suited to mass production runs.
Here is what I’ll need from you:
• A complete 3D CAD model of the mold (native file + neutral STEP/IGES).
• Detailed 2-plate or 3-plate mold drawings showing cavity/core inserts, gates, runners, cooling, and standard components.
• Draft analysis, venting recommendations, and PE-specific shrinkage allowances already applied.
• A concise bill of materials listing standard mold bases, hot/cold runner components, pins, bushings, and any custom items.
• Final output ready for toolmaker hand-off, with tolerances, surface finish call-outs, and any mold-flow feedback embedded.
Acceptance criteria
1. Model opens error-free in SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
2. All dimensions match the furniture fitting sample specs I’ll supply on award.
3. Cycle-time target ≤ 30 s, ejector stroke and cooling confirmed in your documentation.
