PVC Electrical Outlet Box Design – (Injection Molding Expert)

We are seeking an experienced product or mechanical designer to design PVC electrical outlet boxes compliant with UL 514C (Nonmetallic Outlet Boxes). The design must be optimized for plastic injection moulding and informed by polymer flow dynamics.
This project requires a designer who understands regulatory compliance, manufacturing constraints, and PVC material behavior. PM for Design descriptions

SCOPE OF WORK

* Design PVC electrical outlet box(es) suitable for residential or commercial use
* Ensure compliance with UL 514C, including:

> Mechanical strength and durability
>Heat and flammability considerations
>Dimensional and installation requirements

* Design for injection moulding, including:

>Proper wall thickness and uniformity
>Draft angles, ribs, bosses, and reinforcements
>Gate and parting line considerations

* Apply or validate design using plastic flow / mold flow principles to minimize:

>Sink marks
>Warpage
>Weld lines
>Incomplete fill or stress concentrations

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Proven experience with injection-moulded plastic part design
* Strong understanding of PVC in molded applications
* Familiarity with UL standards, specifically UL 514C
* Knowledge of plastic flow dynamics (mold flow analysis or equivalent experience)
* Ability to deliver tooling-ready CAD files (STEP, IGES, etc.)

DELIVERABLES

* 3D CAD models suitable for mold fabrication
* 2D technical drawings with key dimensions and tolerances
* Design notes related to molding and compliance
* Provide STL file for prototype printings
* Reasonable design revisions based on feedback

* All intellectual property, designs, files, and derivatives will be 100% owned by the client upon payment
* Designer may not reuse, resell, or disclose designs in any form
