Outdoor Roto-Molded Stand Drafting
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
We have a current design that we can provide in step that we manufacture but the part is too complex and we just want to make the part easier (more cost effective) to roto mold. ( I have attached an image of a competitors simple stand that is far simpler then our design)
We will provide a step file of the power board to be mounted (attached "Powerboard shell" image) and a step file of the current stand.(attached "Current design" image)
I need a complete CAD package for a roto-molded plastic stand that will store an electrical power board in an outdoor environment. The goal is to give the molder everything required to quote and manufacture.
Key requirements
1. Roto-molding friendly geometry: consistent wall thickness, proper draft angles, generous radii, and no undercuts that would complicate demolding.
2. Simple geometry design to enable easy roto molding
3. Anchor points in stand to be able to be bolted to the ground.
4. Handles on the top of the stand for carrying(same as current design)
5. Power board shell to be recess into the top so that it is stable and can be easily bolted down (inserts in the power board shell feet)
6. Outside dimensions no larger then the current design.
Deliverables
1. Parametric 3D model (STEP file)
2. Fully dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings showing critical tolerances, wall thickness, and parting lines.
3. A brief design note summarizing material recommendations and any assumptions made.
I’m comfortable with Fusion 360, so choose whichever you are fastest in—as long as the neutral STEP file is included that can be opened and edited in Fusion 360
A successful submission will let my chosen roto-molder verify tooling feasibility without further redesign. Let me know the estimated turnaround time and, if you have previous roto-mold projects, feel free to reference them.
