Millwork CAD Drawings for Manufacturing
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
I have a set of custom architectural millwork pieces that now need shop-ready CAD drawings so my fabricator can move straight into production. Accuracy and clarity are critical because the files will go straight to the CNC team for nesting and cutting.
Scope
• Translate my sketches and reference photos into fully dimensioned CAD drawings.
• Show plan, elevation, section, and enlarged joinery details where required.
• Call out critical fabrication information—hardware locations, edge treatment, specialty veneers—only on the parts that truly need it; the rest can stay generic to keep the sheets clean.
Workflow & Tools
I typically exchange files in AutoCAD (.dwg) and annotated PDFs, so sticking to that ecosystem will be easiest. If you model in SolidWorks or Rhino first, that’s fine as long as the final deliverable is a tidy, well-layered .dwg accompanied by a printable PDF set.
Acceptance
Drawings must be to scale, fully dimensioned, and ready for direct use by the manufacturing team. Any clarification notes need to sit on a separate “Fab Notes” layer so they can be toggled on or off.
If you’ve produced shop drawings for millwork before, especially for CNC production, I’d love to see a couple of samples.
