Metal Prototype 3D Modeling & Sourcing
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m taking an existing concept into the prototype stage and need a metal-ready 3D model that can go straight to a machine shop or additive manufacturer. The file must capture every tolerance with high precision, hold up mechanically for repeated testing, and keep weight to an absolute minimum.
Here’s what I need from you:
• Refine my current design where you see weaknesses—suggest wall-thickness tweaks, weight-saving cut-outs, or stronger joint solutions without compromising durability.
• Deliver a production-grade 3D CAD file (STEP or IGES preferred) plus dimensioned drawings suitable for CNC, DMLS, or similar metal processes.
• Identify at least two reputable vendors capable of producing the part in the specified metal, along with their material specs, lead times, and indicative costs.
Acceptance criteria
• All critical dimensions match the tolerance table we’ll agree on (±0.05 mm by default).
• The model passes a basic FEA check for expected loads (I’ll share the load cases).
• Verified vendor details and quotations are included.
I’m happy to supply sketches, previous STL files, and use whichever platform you prefer—SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, or equivalent—so long as the final deliverables meet the standards above.
