Mechatronics Engineer Needed to Design Electronic System for Automated Contact Lens Management Device (Planning Stage)

Job ID: 39926844

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Project Overview:

I have developed a 3D design for an automated contact lens management system for optometry offices. Before we move to prototyping, I need an engineer to design how the electronics, wiring, and motion components will be integrated into the system.

This includes selecting the right components (motors, sensors, buttons, lights, scanners, control boards, etc.), showing how everything connects, and creating a clear plan for future assembly.

This is Phase 1 – System Design Only. The physical prototype will be built later, once the design is finalized.

Your Role (Phase 1 – Design Only):

* Review existing 3D CAD model (provided)
* Recommend components:

* Motors, actuators, conveyors
* RFID/barcode scanner module
* Microcontroller/computer (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
* Buttons, LEDs, sensors, power supply

* Create:
* Wiring diagram and basic control flow
* Bill of materials (BOM) with product links/specifications
* Simple block diagram showing how components interact
* (Optional) Sample control code or pseudocode
* Communicate comfortably in English and provide progress updates

Skills & Experience:

* Mechatronics / Robotics / Electromechanical engineering background
* Experience designing small automation or robotic systems
* Familiarity with RFID/barcode scanning integration
* Strong understanding of motion control and electronics layout
* Clear English communication

Deliverables:

* Complete system design package:

* Recommended components list (with purchase links)
* Wiring and integration diagram
* Control logic flow or pseudocode
* Suggestions for next phase (prototype build)

Future Phases (optional follow-up work):

**Phase 2:** Prototype construction and testing
**Phase 3:** Full automation, software interface, and production optimization

To Apply:

Please include:

1. Examples of past electromechanical or automation projects
2. Description of your approach for this design phase
3. Confirmation you are comfortable communicating in English
4. Your estimated delivery time
