Mechanical Product - Prototype Design for Patent-Pending Product

Job ID: 39958900

Budget: $250 – $750 CAD

I’m finalising a new mechanical product and need an experienced engineer to take it from high-level concept into a fully detailed design that is ready for prototype manufacture.

Scope
• Transform my existing concept notes into precise 3D CAD models (any mainstream platform such as SolidWorks, Inventor or Creo).
• Run a feasibility-focused check on key mechanisms and material choices—strength, tolerance stack-ups and basic thermal behaviour—to confirm the design will survive real-world use.
• Produce manufacturing drawings with clear dimensions, fits and finishes plus an initial bill of materials.
• Recommend off-the-shelf components where it makes economic sense.

What I’ll provide
• Sketches, functional requirements and operating envelope.
• Target performance metrics and load cases for the feasibility analysis.

What I’d like back
1. Native CAD files and neutral formats (STEP/IGES).
2. PDF drawing set ready for a machine shop.
3. Short feasibility report outlining assumptions, calculations and any design risks.
4. A brief handover call or annotated video tour of the model.

If you’ve delivered detailed mechanical product designs before and can balance creativity with solid engineering practice, let’s discuss timelines and the information you need to get started.
