Low-Weld Decorative Fire Pit
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
I’m looking to turn a simple sheet of mild steel into a statement-piece fire pit that marries modern lines with subtle rustic character. The concept must remain practical: parts should slot or tab together so that only a handful of short, easy welds are needed to lock everything in place.
What I need from you is a full set of fabrication-ready documents:
• 3D CAD model and fully dimensioned drawings (STEP or SolidWorks/Fusion 360 files).
• Flat patterns nested for CNC plasma/laser cutting.
• A concise cut list and hardware list.
• Assembly guide that calls out the minimal welds and any optional fasteners.
Design notes
• Material: standard mild steel plate—please size thickness for durability without making it unwieldy.
• Style cues: clean modern geometry but with a touch of rustic warmth; think tapered planes, chamfers or soft bends rather than ornate scrollwork.
• Decorative elements: keep them restrained—small plasma-cut vents or pattern strips that double as airflow aids are ideal.
Acceptance criteria
• No single component larger than 48x96 so it fits common plasma tables. Keeping in mind optimal material nesting
• Total weld length under 2' , with joints located for easy access.
• All parts interlock accurately in the model and assemble square without fixtures.
If you have clever ideas for hidden tabs, folded corners or bolt-together seams that can further reduce welding, feel free to incorporate them. Once I review the drawings and confirm fit in my shop software, the project is complete.
