Industrial Design of Injection-Molded Enclosure for Marine Device (IP67, DFM, Mold-Ready)

Job ID: 40224825

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Project Overview

We are developing a marine electronic device for pleasure boats.

We are looking for an experienced industrial designer / mechanical engineer specialized in plastic injection molding design to design:

• The enclosure (top & bottom shell)
• Internal mounting structure for PCB
• Antenna compartments
• Waterproof cable entry
• DFM optimization for mold production

The enclosure must be designed for production using injection molding.

Technical Context

The device contains:

• PCB approx. 70 x 80 mm ( I will provide 3D object of pcbs)
• 10mm cable output / or waterproof connector
• Marine environment exposure

Target size: approx. 300mm x 100mm x 100mm (subject to optimization)

Requirements

The enclosure must:

• Be IP67 minimum
• Resist marine UV & salt environment
• Support mounting on boat roof or mast
• Include proper draft angles for injection molding
• Include ribs and reinforcement structure
• Be designed according to DFM best practices
• Be optimized for mold cost reduction
• Include screw bosses and assembly logic

Material target:
ASA / UV stabilized ABS / Marine-grade polymer (to be discussed)

Deliverables Required

• Full 3D CAD (STEP + native file)
• Mold-ready optimized geometry
• Draft analysis
• Wall thickness control
• Assembly exploded view
• 2D technical drawings
• DFM explanation notes

Bonus if experience in:
• IP-rated enclosures
• Marine electronics
• RF devices (antenna clearance awareness)

Important

This is not a simple box modeling task.
We need someone experienced in real injection mold industrial production.

Please provide:

• Portfolio of injection molded enclosures
• Explanation of previous mold projects
• Mold size / tooling cost awareness
