Gym Equipment Cart Design & Build
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I have a concept for a household gym-equipment cart and I’m ready to turn it into a finished, manufacturable product. I need one partner who can take the idea from mechanical engineering design all the way through to an initial production run.
Here’s what I already have: rough sketches, target dimensions and a clear sense of the loads the cart must carry. What I need next is a full CAD model, engineering calculations for strength and stability, material selection (steel, aluminium or composite—whichever meets cost-to-weight targets), and detailed drawings that a fabricator can work from. Once the design is locked, I’d like you to source or manage the prototype build, test it, refine if necessary, and then organise small-batch manufacturing.
Deliverables
• 3D CAD files (SolidWorks or similar) and 2D fabrication drawings
• Prototype built and tested to agreed load specs
• Finalised manufacturing package: BOM, assembly instructions, QA checkpoints
• Coordination with a manufacturer to produce the first batch
Acceptance criteria
– Cart safely supports the specified load without excessive deflection
– Smooth performance
– Unit passes a simple drop and tilt test without damage
– Production cost per unit stays within the material budget we’ll set together
Experience with sheet-metal design, welded assemblies, powder-coating, and small-batch production will be a big plus. If you can deliver both the engineering rigour and the manufacturing follow-through, let’s talk timelines.
