Golf Putter Smart Cap CAD Design

Job ID: 40359836

Budget: £20 – £250 GBP

I need CAD designs for a 2-part golf putter smart cap prototype. The design should be in plastic and include:

- A small threaded insert that screws into the rubber grip top (5mm hole)
- A round smart cap (40mm) that bayonet twist-locks in

The smart cap must accommodate a screen, PCB, IMU, and LiPo battery. I will provide specific brands/models for the PCB, IMU, and LiPo.

Deliverables:
- STL files
- STEP files
- Section/exploded drawings

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Experience with electronic enclosures and integration
- Knowledge of materials and prototyping processes

What needs to be designed

I need a 2-part system:

1) Threaded insert (stays in the putter grip)

A small insert that screws into the rubber top of the putter grip and stays there.

Requirements:

Fine self-tapping thread suitable for rubber
Slight taper
Pointed lead-in tip so it starts easily in the hole in the grip
Small top collar / flange
Bayonet receiver at the top for the smart cap to lock into
Please create 2–3 thread size variants for testing fit in real putter grips

Important:

The hole in the top of the putter grip is approximately 5 mm
This should be a small, finer self-tapping insert, not a large chunky thread
2) Smart cap (removable electronics housing)

A small round cap that contains the electronics and twist-locks into the threaded insert.

Requirements:

Round top housing
Approximate target size:
~40 mm outer diameter
as low-profile as possible
2-lug bayonet twist-lock underneath
Approximate twist:
20–25 degrees
Must lock repeatably in the same orientation every time
Clean, compact, premium-looking external shape
Designed for 3D printed prototype
Internal packaging required inside the smart cap

The smart cap must be designed to physically fit these components:

Waveshare 1.28” round display module (I will supply the real part)
Protective lens window at the top
Small ESP32 board
IMU sensor board
Small LiPo battery

Please design the internal layout properly with:

screen seat / ledge
internal component pockets
PCB supports / standoffs if needed
battery pocket / retention method
cable routing allowance
realistic wall thicknesses for 3D printing
Key design goals
Small and neat
Looks like a real golf product, not bulky
Nothing wraps around the outside of the grip
The threaded insert is the only permanent grip attachment
The smart cap removes easily for charging / servicing
Must be repeatable and aligned when reinstalled
Must be suitable for prototype 3D printing
What I will provide

I can provide:

Photos of the putter grip top
Approximate grip hole size (~5 mm currently)
The real bought components for final fit
Reference sketches / concept images
What I need delivered

Please provide:

CAD files
Native CAD file (Fusion 360 preferred, SolidWorks also fine)
STEP file
Print files
STL for threaded insert
STL for smart cap housing
If the housing is split into multiple parts, STL for each part
Drawing pack
Exploded view
Section view through full assembly
Internal component fit view
Bayonet lock detail
Threaded insert detail
Basic dimensioned drawing PDF
Prototype notes

Please design this as a real prototype, not just a visual concept.

Important:

I want 2–3 insert thread variants to test fit in real putter grips
Please use sensible 3D print tolerances
Bayonet lock should include realistic clearance for prototype printing
Thread should be suitable for soft rubber / grip material
Avoid sharp machine-style thread profile
Prefer rounded / softer self-tapping thread form for grip material
Materials / print assumption

Please design assuming prototype printing in:

Nylon (PA12) or
PETG
Priority

Most important:

Clean, small smart cap
Good internal fit of the real components
A threaded insert that can be tested in the putter grip
A reliable bayonet / twist-lock connection
Please quote for
Full CAD design
2–3 insert thread variants
Print-ready STL files
STEP file
Simple dimensioned drawing pack
Important note

I already have the concept and mounting direction decided.

I now need a real prototype CAD model with:

believable internal packaging for the electronics
a proper 3D-printable threaded insert
a proper twist-lock smart cap system

Please design this as a working prototype, not just a visual concept.
