Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer – Electronics Enclosure & Adjustable Dumbbell Design -- 2
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
We are looking for an experienced freelance mechanical design engineer to help us design a compact, mechanically robust product that integrates electronic components. The electronics design is already completed; your responsibility will be to design the mechanical structure and enclosure around it.
This project also includes the mechanical design of an adjustable dumbbell, requiring a strong focus on durability, safety, ergonomics, and reliable locking/adjustment mechanisms.
Project Scope
Design compact and ergonomic mechanical enclosures for electronic components
Develop a robust adjustable dumbbell mechanical system, including weight adjustment and locking mechanisms
Ensure proper integration of PCBs, connectors, antennas, fasteners, and cable routing
Optimize designs for manufacturing, assembly, and long-term durability
Create 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
Recommend suitable materials based on mechanical load, wear, and environmental conditions
Support prototyping using 3D printing or CNC machining
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
Proven experience designing consumer products or load-bearing mechanical systems
Good understanding of tolerances, fits, and DFM/DFA
Experience integrating electronics into mechanical designs
Knowledge of plastic and metal part design
Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience with fitness equipment or adjustable dumbbell designs
Experience with compact or handheld products
Mechanical engineering or product design background
Basic understanding of thermal management or EMI considerations
