Detachable AR Mount Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m working on a head-mounted AR display and need a detachable mount that locks in firmly yet releases instantly when required. My preference is a plastic construction paired with a clip-based attachment, so the hardware stays light, unobtrusive, and wearable for long sessions. The critical requirements are:
• Secure attachment that maintains precise optical alignment even under vibration, head movement, and frequent re-mounting
• Quick one-hand release that never compromises user safety or comfort
• Form factor slim enough to avoid adding noticeable bulk or weight to the headset
• Materials and tolerances suitable for large-scale injection moulding, with clear guidance on prototype 3D-print iterations
• Robust over thousands of detach/attach cycles without loosening or fracture

• Short test plan outlining drop, vibration, and endurance cycling you used to validate the design
