I am seeking proposals from qualified freelancers for the design and development of a mechanical module for the nape (neckline) region of a wearable, head-conforming system.
Project Scope
The selected freelancer will design a compact, ergonomic, and functional mechanical system consisting of:
Inner Adaptive Structure
• Conforms to the nape/neckline shape
• Flexible or retractable design
• Moves outward in a controlled range (~1–3 cm)
• Incorporates comb-like guides aligned parallel to the scalp
Outer Structural Layer
• Mounts over the inner structure
• Maintains alignment during movement
• Houses the functional mechanism
Cutting & Suction Mechanism (Critical Component)
• A rail-mounted trimmer unit
• Includes:
• Cutting blade teeth
• Vacuum orifices positioned in front of blades
• Connected to a vacuum source
• Working principle:
• Suction lifts and aligns hair
• Trimmer moves along a rail
• Ensures uniform cutting across the region
• Process repeats until consistent results are achieved
Design Requirements
• Smooth and reliable mechanical motion
• Accurate conformity to head curvature (nape region)
• Stable integration of inner and outer layers
• Lightweight and ergonomic design
• Manufacturable and practical solution
• Appropriate material selection (durable, skin-safe, lightweight)
Required Expertise
• Mechanical Design Engineering
• CAD Modeling (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or similar)
• Mechanism Design (rails, sliders, linkages)
• Product Design (wearables preferred)
• Basic engineering validation (FEA is a plus)
Deliverables
• Complete 3D CAD assembly
• Exploded view of components
• 2D drawings with key dimensions
• Description of motion/mechanism
• Brief report covering:
• Design concept
• Material selection
• Feasibility assessment
