Design Vertical Grain VFFS Machine

Job ID: 40253763

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I need a seasoned mechanical engineer to create the full mechanical design for a Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) machine that can handle rice, wheat, and corn, reaching a steady throughput of up to 50 bags per minute. The goal is a production-ready package: every component modeled, toleranced, and ready for fabrication.

Scope of work
You will take the project from concept sketches through detailed manufacturing drawings. That includes hopper and dosing mechanisms sized for free-flowing grains, the forming collar and tube, sealing jaws with temperature control allowances, film handling rollers, frame, drive train, and the change-parts needed to switch easily between the three grain types. I also want realistic design provisions for future integration with a PLC and standard sensors, even though the controls layout itself is outside this contract.

Key deliverables
• 3D CAD models (any mainstream package—SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
• Full 2D fabrication drawings with GD&T
• Exploded-view assembly guide and parts list / BOM with material specs
• Brief motion or kinematic study proving the 50-bpm target is mechanically feasible
• A short document explaining maintenance access, sanitation considerations, and changeover steps

Acceptance criteria
The design must be manufacturable using commonly available materials and processes, meet the stated speed for rice, wheat, and corn without product breakage, and arrive free of interference or tolerance stack-up issues in the supplied CAD.

If you have past experience designing FFS, auger or volumetric fillers, or other food-grade packaging equipment, please mention it and share sample visuals (renderings or redacted drawings are fine). I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right partner.
